Creative chef/entrepreneur Judy Henry collaborated closely with The Anderson Group to help with the branding of her new restaurant, Judy's on Cherry in Reading, PA. Based on the success of this one-of-a-kind "hearth-fired Euro café," Judy decided to open a second restaurant.
Her vision was to create a pub and eatery with an English country menu and feel, in keeping with the look of a charming historic log cabin-style structure she owned in downtown Reading. She asked The Anderson Group to help her bring that vision to life. We began by researching all kinds of British pubs, drawing inspiration from their whimsical names and painterly signs.
The result was The Speckled Hen Cottage Pub & Alehouse, a restaurant modeled after the country cottage pubs of the British Isles. The internationally award-winning logo design features an original painting of a speckled hen, commissioned by The Anderson Group, which now hangs in one of the cozy corners of this unique restaurant.
Business impact
In its first year of business, and with very little traditional advertising, The Speckled Hen built a loyal following and became a fixture in the local dining and social scene. Its quirky and inviting identity still regularly attracts new customers. Most recently, the pub's success allowed The Speckled Hen to spread its wings and open an adjacent outdoor French-themed café, Plein Air.
