National Penn Bank

Getting noticed leads to
profitable relationships

National Penn Bank opened a single commercial banking office in a prime location in Center City Philadelphia. There were literally dozens of law firms and other businesses within three blocks and hundreds of potential prospects for the bank’s commercial and business services. The bank charged The Anderson Group with helping it reach—and get noticed by—this lucrative audience without using cost-prohibitive traditional media.

To achieve this goal, The Anderson Group recommended sending a series of interesting and unusual 3-dimentional mailings to small numbers of key prospects nearby. The mailings were followed by phone calls form the bank. Items included a gold Silly Putty™ egg in a gold tube, a gold one-dollar piece in a 3-dimensional folder, extravagant fresh flower arrangements from the city’s most exclusive florist, a live bonsai tree, and bank-branded tissue boxes at the height of the allergy season.

The result: Two mailings have been credited with brining in a coveted $1 million account, while others have helped open the doors to other new profitable relationships.
