Ephrata Community Hospital

Giving hunters ammunition
for better health

Research shows that most American who haven’t visited a doctor in the last five years are men.

In an effort to address this issue among hunters in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania., Ephrata Community Hospital turned to The Anderson Group. We helped the hospital launch Hunter’s Health Check—an afternoon filled with free health screenings and tests carefully camouflaged as an informational event for hunters complete with new product demos, game cooking tips and children’s activities.

The Anderson Group executed an engaging print advertising and direct mail campaign--aimed at hunters' wives--to promote the event. More than 1,000 hunters attended the first event, far surpassing the hospital's expectations.

Business impact
Due to the program's success, Hunter's Health Check is now an annual occurrence that continues to attract a larger audience each year. In response to this event, Ephrata has expanded its community outreach to include Womankind and the Women's Heart Health events. Based on continual feedback, all of these events continue to boost the hospital's brand in the community as a health advocate.
